The reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone has been considered by some to be one of the most important conservation events of the 20th century. Why?
Because the federal government eradicated them and then decided to bring them back. It is hard to overstate the controversy, emotion, and interest that this project generated. Regardless of where you stand, wolves were in Yellowstone at park establishment, were eradicated, and now are back. Our goal at HawkSaw is to bring this amazing story to a wider audience through photographs. Looking at wolves through the seasons, interacting with elk and bison, coyotes and bears, and just seeing them in their natural setting is what you will get from HawkSaw PhotoDesigns. Part of the profits will be donated back to the Yellowstone Wolf Project to help unravel the complexity of the wolf and its place in the ecosystem as well as contribute to its conservation.
HawkSaw PhotoDesigns is located in Gardiner, Montana. I have lived here since the re-introduction and have watched this story unfold. I have skied, hiked, paddled hundreds of miles for the past 14 years and know the park and wolves intimately. I have volunteered for the Yellowstone Wolf Project and I am familiar with their body of work, both scientific and artistic. Through my many experiences in Yellowstone and several encounters with these wild wolves has led me to begin this adventure of HawkSaw PhotoDesigns. My desire is to share this with you.
Enjoy! I look forward to what unfolds.
